A winter storm will affect portions of northern and central Maine from Sunday into Monday, according to the National Weather Service in Caribou.
Heavy, wet snow and slippery travel are expected through Monday morning.
The weather service said the rain–snow line was expected to sit near the central highlands, lowering snowfall amounts there.
Depending on the storm’s coastal track, milder maritime air east of Route 11 could create a rain–snow mix that reduces totals.
In the Bangor area, Sunday will be rainy with wind gusts of about 25 mph, followed by 1 to 3 inches of snow between 10 p.m. and 3 a.m.
In central Piscataquis, northwest Aroostook, northern Piscataquis and northern Somerset counties, forecasters predicted 4 to 9 inches of snow with wind gusts up to 35 mph through 1 p.m. Monday.
In northern Penobscot, southeast Aroostook and northeast Aroostook counties, 4 to 8 inches were expected, with the highest totals west of Route 11.
A winter weather advisory for parts of southwest, west-central and western Maine was lifted at 7 a.m. Sunday.
