ROCKLAND — Millay House Rockland will again hold an open house during Rockland’s Festival of Lights from 1-3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 29.
The double house at 198 Broadway is the birthplace of Pulitzer-Prize-winning poet Edna St. Vincent Millay. Millay grew up in Union and Camden, graduated from Vassar and went on to publish poetry, short stories, and the libretto for an opera. During the Roaring ‘20s, her dramatic poetry readings across the country made her the most popular woman in America.
Join us for homemade cookies and hot cider and help us launch the 2025-26 Millay House membership campaign. Learn about our Writer-in-Residence program, what’s been happening at the house in 2025, and what’s coming for 2026.
NOTE: The Millay House has limited parking. Please park at the Rockland Congregational Church at 180 Limerock St. or Burpee Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home at 110 Limerock St.
Millay House Rockland is a nonprofit organization that champions writers, as well as creators and practitioners of all the arts. It celebrates the legacy of Edna St. Vincent Millay and the rich heritage of Midcoast Maine. Central to the mission is rejuvenating the literary landmark that is the birthplace of the Pulitzer Prize-winning poet.
