Kyle Stillie‘s claims about a possible hookup with a guest on Below Deck stirred up some major drama — and an investigation — but where is he now?
Captain Kerry Titheradge gave an update while speaking exclusively to Us Weekly at BravoCon 2025 in Las Vegas on Friday, November 14, saying, “I only get to see so much of what’s going on. I’ve spoken to Kyle since and he’s actually, he’s actually taken a break from drinking right now.”
Kerry, 49, praised Kyle for sticking to the major life change.
“He’s sober now. He’s been [sober] for a year,” the captain added. “We had a really good chat after the show on how things were going on. He’s a good guy.”

After Kyle confused viewers on the events in season 12 of Below Deck, Kerry shared his perspective on the situation, adding, “He’s mischievous and he likes to tell stories. The whole thing about the guest wasn’t true.”
Kyle was introduced in season 11 before he returned to work for Kerry in season 12 of Below Deck. This time around though, Kyle was at the center of the drama following a rumor he himself spread about hooking up with charter guest Helen Hoey.
Kyle walked it back once word got back to Kerry, but the damage was already done. The rest of the season, crew and fans alike questioned what exactly happened between Kyle and Helen. On screen, meanwhile, Kerry investigated Kyle but he was cleared.
“Since filming, I’ve changed. I’ve changed things. I’ll never say I’ll stop drinking but I’m aware that the habits that I have and the way that I used alcohol. I’m just far more aware,” Kyle told Us in September about watching his behavior back. “I don’t think I’ve ever [had] a problem. I would hate to get to 40 years old and somebody sits me down and goes, ‘Mate pull your neck in.’ So it’s just kind of giving me that point of reference where I’m not a f***ing idiot. So it’s just given me that foresight to be like, ‘You’re never going to get to that place.’”
‘Below Deck’ Star Kyle’s Conflicting Comments About the Guest Hookup Rumors
Despite enjoying his time in yachting, Kyle said he didn’t have plans to continue on that professional path. “If I was 21, fresh-eyed and bushy tailed, I would be chasing it,” he noted. “But I think the nature of the business and whatnot is — not that you have to drink and party — but there’s a lot of that.”
He continued: “I don’t think if I ever did Below Deck, I would have ever tied into the thinking that I had a problem. It’s just made me a bit more aware of my daily actions and what I do to my body — whether that be abuse it or whether that be how I think towards myself — that’s what it’s given me. More so than kind of my relationships with other people.”
Below Deck, which has been renewed for season 13, has yet to start filming. While speaking to Us at BravoCon, Kerry teased what fans can expect, saying, “We haven’t started filming yet but we’re getting the cast together for next year. It’s been very exciting. I hope we get Fraser [Olender] back. He’s my buddy and he’s grown so much under my leadership. I’ve really helped him grow and he’s embraced it. He’s taken on the positive reinforcement and he’s run with it.”
