
BANGOR — The Katahdin Area Council, Scouting America, is proud to announce that The Jackson Laboratory has been selected as the recipient of the 2025 Distinguished Citizen Award. This prestigious honor celebrates individuals, businesses and organizations that demonstrate exceptional leadership, professional achievement and an enduring commitment to community service.
Established by the Katahdin Area Council, Scouting America, the Distinguished Citizen Award recognizes those whose contributions enrich communities across northern and eastern Maine. The award highlights the values that define true citizenship — service, integrity and leadership — and honors those who inspire the next generation to live by these principles.

Purpose of the Award
The Distinguished Citizen Award honors individuals and organizations whose leadership and community involvement embody the principles of Scouting America. Recipients serve as role models for youth, demonstrating strong moral character, civic responsibility and a commitment to improving the lives of others.
