A New York man wanted for a murder was arrested in Maine just over an hour after U.S. Marshals Service received information about where he was staying.
Lamont Dolberry, 52, was arrested Tuesday on Cove Road while riding an electric scooter. He had fled New York and came to Maine a few months ago, the Marshals service said.
It’s unclear who Dolberry is accused of killing. The Marshals office deferred to New York City police, which were unable to find a case. The Marshals declined to comment about what brought Dolberry to rural Maine.
New York state court records did not show any results for Dolberry.
The Cove Road address where Dolberry was arrested appeared unoccupied to a Bangor Daily News reporter on Friday morning. Multiple people in town said they had no idea that Dolberry was hiding in their town and did not remember seeing a man riding an electric scooter.
The Marshals were able to arrest Dolberry just over an hour after receiving “actionable information” because of collaboration with state and local agencies, the service said.
Dolberry is held without bail as a fugitive from justice in the Waldo County Jail, according to Maine court records. He waived his extradition, court records said.
