Michelle Pfeiffer is bringing the humor and spirit this holiday season with her upcoming Christmas film, Oh. What. Fun.
In the trailer released on Thursday, November 6, Pfeiffer, 67, shines as Claire Clauster, a mom who fully embraces the holiday season each year. But things are a bit different for Claire in 2025 — it seems like her family isn’t sharing the same enthusiasm and dedication as she is during the holidays.
“Why does St. Nick get all of the credit? Moms do all of the work,” Pfeiffer’s character says as she’s seen cooking, decorating and wrapping gifts while simultaneously catering to her family’s needs at Christmastime in the teaser.
Claire gets frustrated when her family accidentally leaves her at home as they rush out the door to go to a dance show. By the time her family notices her absence, it’s too late. It’s then that she decides, “Mom’s closed up shop,” and packs a bag and unplugs her Christmas lights to go on her own holiday adventure.

Once her family realizes she’s gone, the police get involved as Claire embarks on a cross-country journey. Her destination? The Zazzy Tims show to compete in a holiday moms contest. Claire’s kids watch her on TV, deciding that she is an “icon” for making such a bold TV debut, which includes her dancing, opening up about her true feelings about her family’s lack of appreciation for her holiday spirit and more.
The trailer is set to the new original song “Shake the Snow Globe” by Gwen Stefani.
“This is the first time I’ve ever been asked to write a song for a specific moment in a film. It made me nervous, excited and inspired to take on the challenge of creating a Christmas song that feels up-tempo, nostalgic and reflects the sentiment of the movie Oh. What. Fun.” Stefani, 56, said about her song being part of the film.
In addition to the trailer, Pfeiffer sent fans an enthusiastic message about the holiday film.
“I’m excited to share with you the trailer for our new film. … This holiday season, it’s time to shine a light on the unsung heroes — moms,” she says in the greeting. “Our story celebrates all the love, effort and magic they bring to the holidays often with little to none recognition so get ready for laughter, heart and a reminder that moms truly deserve the spotlight. We hope you enjoy the new trailer.”
From director Michael Showalter, Oh. What. Fun. also stars Felicity Jones, Chloë Grace Moretz, Denis Leary, Dominic Sessa, Jason Schwartzman, Havana Rose Liu, Maude Apatow, Danielle Brooks, Devery Jacobs, Joan Chen and Eva Longoria.

“Claire Clauster (Pfeiffer) is the glue that holds her chaotic, lovable family together every holiday season,” the official synopsis says. “From perfectly frosted cookies to meticulously wrapped gifts, no one decks the halls quite like Claire. But this year, after planning a special outing for her family, they make a crucial mistake and leave her home alone. Fed up and feeling underappreciated, she sets off on an impromptu adventure of her own. As her family scrambles to find her, Claire discovers the unexpected magic of a Christmas gone off-script.”
