Miles Teller reflected on losing his home during the Los Angeles wildfires earlier this year while hosting the Saturday, November 1, episode of Saturday Night Live.

“SNL has always been one of the more consistent parts of my life. I lived in Pennsylvania, Georgia, Delaware, [New] Jersey and Florida all before I was 12,” Teller, 38, began his monologue. “It gets a little confusing when people ask where I’m from, but that’s what I love about coming here because I have a lot of memories.”

He added, “Honestly guys, I’m so happy to be here with all of you. A lot has happened since the last time that I hosted [in 2022].”

The Eternity star appeared emotional, revealing, “A few months ago, my wife and I lost our house in the Palisades fire.”

A string of wildfires broke out in Los Angeles in January, devastating thousands of acres of land. While Miles and wife Keleigh Teller evacuated the city safely, their home was destroyed.

“Don’t worry. Seriously, do not worry,” Miles said on Saturday. “We’re doing great. I see you’re up there, baby, but that experience has made me incredibly grateful to have so many places that I can call home. Based on what happened to the last place that I called home, I just want to say there’s fire exits located [around the studio].”

Miles and Keleigh, 33, have both been candid about the aftermath of losing their house.

“To everyone reaching out I can’t thank you enough, your kind hearts have meant the world, I’ll never forget them,” Keleigh wrote via Instagram in January, sharing a photo of their property before it burned down. “Community has come out stronger than I could imagine, Pacific Palisades. I love you beyond measure, you are a little slice of heaven, we will come back stronger than ever.”

She continued, “If you’re in the L.A. area, PLEASE get out if you can. I wish I grabbed my wedding dress. Wish I did a lot different, but it doesn’t matter, stay safe, get out.  There are no words. THANK YOU to the first responders fighting.”

Weeks later, Miles revealed that he was “grieving” years of memories in the house.

“You’re grieving a lot of things. You’re grieving memories that were lost,” Miles said on Watch What Happens Live in February. “You’re grieving the life that my wife and I anticipated us having, with hopefully having our first children in that house. I know that’s gonna take a while to recalibrate because we just don’t have a place we can go to that just feels like us and our things and our kind of comfort. But, you know, we’ll figure it out.”

Miles and Keleigh also had several friends rally around them amid their loss.

“Many people have reached out, just either letting us know that they’re there emotionally or people are offering us their place,” Miles told E! News in a February interview. “I’m a Deadhead, and so I’ve had a lot of people reach out to Keleigh like, ‘I want to send Miles a Grateful Dead shirt.’”

Saturday Night Live airs on NBC Saturdays at 11:30 p.m. ET.
