The King has decided to remove Andrew’s royal titles and have him leave his Windsor home after weeks of renewed scrutiny over his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein.

It comes after a posthumous memoir by Virginia Giuffre was published earlier this month.

In it, Ms Giuffre claimed that – as a teenager – she had sex with Andrew on three occasions after being trafficked by billionaire paedophile Epstein and his ex-girlfriend Ghislaine Maxwell.

Andrew – who gave up his Duke of York title earlier this month – has always denied the claims.

Buckingham Palace announced the King had begun the “formal process” of removing his brother’s titles and honours and served notice for him to surrender his lease on Royal Lodge, where he has lived with his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson since the early 2000s.

The move will be funded privately by the King and will happen “as soon as practicable”.

Where will Andrew live now?

Andrew will move to a property on the Sandringham estate, where the main building is the stately Sandringham House.

The estate in Norfolk – located about 100 miles north of London – is privately owned by the King and has been the home of five generations of British monarchs for more than 150 years.

Sandringham’s vast surrounding estate includes 16,000 acres of farmland, 3,500 acres of woodland and 150 properties.

There are several villages and hamlets, including West Newton and Shernborne, on the royal estate, with residential properties in 13 villages being let out to people living and working locally.

Which Sandringham properties could Andrew move to?

York Cottage is one of the properties the former Duke could move into. It is a former royal stately home on the Sandringham grounds, which is being used as holiday accommodation and previously housed estate staff.

The five-bed property, which used to be known as the Bachelor’s Cottage, was the home of Prince Albert Victor, Edward VII’s eldest son, until he died in 1892.

Edward VII then gifted York Cottage to his son, the Duke of York, the future George V, as a wedding gift in 1893.

The property was earmarked for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex before they departed from royal life, according to The Times.

Park House is another option. It was the childhood home of the late Princess Diana, whose father rented the 16-bed property until she was 14, when the Spencer family moved to Althorp House in 1975.

Queen Elizabeth II later gifted Park House to the charity Leonard Cheshire, which ran a hotel catering for disabled people, but closed during the pandemic.

The property has been standing empty since.

Gardens House is a four-bed, four-bath property in the heart of the royal grounds.

It used to be the home of Sandringham estate’s head gardener, but is now used as a holiday let available for around £2,700 per week – and it could soon become Andrew’s new home.

“In the peaceful stillness of the estate woodland sits the charming Gardens House,” it says on the Sandringham estate website.

“This light and airy red brick Edwardian property accommodates up to eight guests, with each room thoughtfully furnished with a blend of rustic pieces, modern comforts, and botanical prints.”

Wood Farm was the personal home of Andrew’s late father, Prince Philip, who lived there after retiring from royal duties in 2017. Queen Elizabeth II often stayed at the five-bed property with her husband, who died in 2021.

George V’s youngest son, Prince John, lived at Wood Farm until his death in 1919.

But it is understood that Andrew is unlikely to move into the property, The Times reports.

The Folly is a house with three bedrooms now used as a holiday let, costing around £2,500 for a week.

The property was built in the 1800s and previously served as a hunting lodge and a place where ladies enjoyed afternoon tea, according to the Sandringham estate website.

It states The Folly underwent a year-long restoration, which “honours the building’s romantic history while incorporating modern comforts”.

“Original features like stone hearths, arched entryways, and hand-finished floors have been carefully preserved. Additionally, objects from the Royal Collection enhance the ambience and authenticity of the space,” the website says.

There are also three properties currently available to let on the estate’s website, including a two-bedroom red brick terraced house in Flitcham village, for £975 per calendar month.
