PORTLAND — On Oct. 31 and Nov. 1-2, local haunted creatives are taking over Mayo Street Art’s building entirely to provide Halloween thrills all day long. From 12-6 p.m. visitors can watch a screening of every single horror film ever presented in the over 10 years of Damnationland! Closing out each evening is Heck House’s Haunted Hallway from 7-9:30 p.m. leading through MSA’s basement to the back patio area full of haunted puppets and eerie installations!
Damnationland is dusting off over a decade of archival works from this legendary, annual series showcasing pieces from some of Maine’s more sick and twisted creative minds! Years of horrific short form local films will be resurrected for a weekend of terrifying memories. Come stay for 6 minutes to 6 hours for only $6.66! Relive the horrors of Damnationland past at this cursed presentation of “Screenings from the Tomb”.
Damnationland presents genre-defying original works from Maine filmmakers that redefine the classic thriller and horror categories. For over a decade, Damnationland programs have featured world premieres of short films produced in Maine by Mainers, exclusively for the Halloween season. These are dark, surreal, and fantastic pieces, and they offer film fans an excellent sampling of the talent producing independent film in Maine today.

After a day of horror films, guests will head on down to the basement for Heck House’s Super Spooky Haunted Hallway: Thalassophobia Edition!
Attendees are invited to confront their fear of the ocean’s depths as they journey through the Spooky Haunted House hallway located beneath Mayo Street Art’s main stage hall. The 3rd Annual edition of this spooktacular event, organized by Molly Picone and a talented cast of local creatives, has found its new home at MSA-an ideal setting for a haunted experience featuring entirely handmade costumes and puppets, both large and small.
This year’s theme plunges visitors deep into the ocean, beyond the reach of sunlight and past the limits of human discovery, into a seascape more mysterious than ever before. The haunt promises to both delight and terrify as guests enter a dreamlike world filled with sea monsters, sirens, and shimmering serpents of the deep. Suitable for all ages, the experience also includes the leviathan’s petting zoo located out back. Guests are encouraged to bring their best screams-MSA looks forward to spooking them there!
