Nobody Wants This fans have questions about the increased product placement in the newest season of the show.
During season 2, which premiered Thursday, October 23, viewers noticed an uptick in products being visible on screen. There was a specific moment where Joanne (Kristen Bell) was on a FaceTime call with sister Morgan (Justine Lupe) while clearly using Estée Lauder products.
“The funniest intentional moment this season is Joanne applying night serum on a full face of makeup,” read an Instagram post alongside a video of Joanne. “Nothing hits like unhinged product placement.”
In the comments section, others said they noticed more products being subtly promoted. “Am I the only one who is less likely to use a product after seeing a product placement?” wrote another social media user.

Nobody Wants This, which premiered in September 2024, centers on the unlikely relationship between Joanne, an outspoken, agnostic woman, and Noah (Adam Brody), an unconventional rabbi. Season 2 picked up after Joanne and Noah decided to give their unlikely romance a real shot.
After facing major ups and downs — mostly due to their differing faiths — Noah and Joanne broke up but were ultimately able to work things out when Noah realized Joanne was his person. Joanne, meanwhile, came to the conclusion that she could see herself converting.

“We wanted to end on romance, not religion,” creator Erin Foster told Tudum about the ending. “The romance is him saying, ‘I don’t care what you are, I’m choosing you.’ We don’t really need to hear her saying, ‘Oh, my God, you’re not going to believe this. I’ve been Jewish this entire time.’ Because we know that’s about to happen.”
She added: “She’s trying so hard to see it that she can’t see it. She’s yearning for something to give her structure, purpose, boundaries, values and traditions. Judaism can give her all of those things. … She’s enjoying all these different things about Judaism,” said Foster. “But she keeps thinking God is going to just come down from the sky and be like, ‘And now you’re Jewish!’”
Noah and Joanne are expected to be in a different place in their relationship in a possible third season.

“It’s not Noah against Joanne,” Bell, 45, told Tudum. “It’s Joanne and Noah against the problem, which I think is a great framework to come at any relationship with.”
The newest batch of episodes also featured fun winks at the audience with Brody’s wife, Leighton Meester, playing Joanne’s nemesis.
“He’s my favorite actor, and he’s my favorite person. So the two of those things just make for a wonderful day at work,” Meester, 39, told TVLine in February about collaborating with Brody. “I get to be with my best friend, who I love and look up to. I always forget that I’m watching him when I am, and whenever I work with him, it feels very secondhand, and there’s so much love and trust. So I’m just grateful every time I get to be on set with him.”
She continued: “I just am a huge fan of the show and of his work, and so, I, like most of the audience, was really rooting for [Noah and Joanne], and I loved how deeply developed both the characters were and how they got to be these imperfect people, finding each other.”
Nobody Wants This is currently streaming on Netflix.
