The drama within the royal family continues as Prince Andrew’s scandal keeps making headlines.
British journalist Emily Maitlis — who famously interviewed Andrew for his 2019 sit-down on BBC’s Newsnight — discussed the fallout during the Monday, October 27, episode of “The News Agents” podcast.
Maitlis claimed that the U.K. media was informed last week that King Charles III was allegedly set to take a trip to the Royal Lodge following his visit to The Vatican, but it never happened.
Charles, 76, was supposed to be seen “reading the riot act to his brother,” Maitlis claimed.

“Nobody was going to film the conversation. Clearly, nobody was going to see him sort of stepping out of the car,” she alleged. “But there was going to be the moment caught on camera of King Charles’ car close to heading towards Royal Lodge.”
Because things had apparently gotten “out of control” with the media coverage, Buckingham Palace allegedly got “very nervous” and “canceled the whole thing.”
Maitlis also alleged that Prince William stepped in when it came to removing the former Duke of York, 65, from his home at Royal Lodge. She claimed that hours prior to the planned meeting of Charles and Andrew, the Prince of Wales, 43, crossed paths with Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie and offered them an alleged ultimatum.
“‘You guys have got to get your dad to move out of Royal Lodge, otherwise we will start reexamining the state of your own titles,’” Maitlis claimed William told his cousins, further alleging that he put “pressure” on both Beatrice, 37, and Eugenie, 35, to assist with Andrew’s exit.
“Obviously, you can see why Andrew, as a father, would want to kind of keep his daughters happy and keep their titles in place, come what may,” Maitlis continued.

Questions about Andrew’s living arrangement have continued to rise after he announced plans earlier this month to give up his royal titles.
“In discussion with The King, and my immediate and wider family, we have concluded the continued accusations about me distract from the work of His Majesty and the Royal Family,” Andrew said in a statement to Us Weekly on October 17. “I have decided, as I always have, to put my duty to my family and country first. I stand by my decision five years ago to stand back from public life.”

He continued, “With His Majesty’s agreement, we feel I must now go a step further. I will therefore no longer use my title or the honors which have been conferred upon me. As I have said previously, I vigorously deny the accusations against me.”
Andrew’s connection to late convicted billionaire sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein was made public in 2019 when the disgraced royal family member was accused of having sexual relations with Virginia Giuffre when she was underage. He has continued to vehemently deny the accusations against him.
Days after Andrew gave up his titles, Giuffre posthumously released a memoir offering further allegations against Andrew and Epstein. (Giuffre died by suidice at age 41 in April.)
