Abby Lee Miller would “absolutely” return to the Dancing With the Stars judges table — if given the opportunity, of course.
“They wanted me to do the show,” Miller, 60, exclusively told Us Weekly at Dancers Against Cancer’s 2025 Gala of the Stars event on October 21. “Three years [in a row] they asked me, and my contract with the other network didn’t allow it, so I did a guest spot because I was only allowed to be on another network every 13 episodes of my show. It was very constrictive, unfortunately. So there you go.”
In 2014, Miller served as a guest judge alongside Len Goodman, Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tonioli.
Meryl Davis, Amy Purdy, Candace Cameron Bure and James Maslow were some of the celebrities who received honest feedback from the Dance Moms alum in season 18.

“I would’ve liked to stay,” Miller pointed out from The Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles. “When I judged, it was right when they brought lyric and contemporary [dances] in, and so Deena Katz, the producer, wanted somebody [where] that was their field, their ballpark, and it’s still happening. So I think I should be [back]. Deena, if you’re listening.”
This season of Dancing With the Stars, former professional dancer Kym Johnson-Herjavec and Wicked’s Jon M. Chu have served as guest judges. Cheryl Burke is also expected to hold the title on Tuesday, October 28’s Halloween themed episode.
While there has been some debate — like many seasons — as to whether or not the judges are scoring performances fairly, Miller explained why a specific score doesn’t necessarily mean everything.
“It’s just a number on a piece of paper,” she said. “If they’re having trouble with one of the celebrities and one of the big-time judges giving a low score, tell her to up the score with the house difference. It doesn’t matter as long as you have your winner.”
Miller continued, “If you give out your winner a 10 and then you give everybody else an eight, you make sure that winner is that winner. So why are you giving sixes and sevens? It doesn’t matter.”
Dancing With the Stars aside, Miller was grateful to have the opportunity to attend Dancers Against Cancer’s annual charity event. The nonprofit provides financial assistance and emotional support to cancer-affected dancers and their families.

“I’m giving back a check of $10,000 that they gave me many years ago,” Miller — who was previously diagnosed with Burkitt lymphoma in 2018 — shared with Us. “I guess I should have given them interest on that. I have to check. I have to talk about that.”
Dancing With the Stars airs on ABC and Disney+ Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET.
