As Netflix barrels into the final week of October, the streamer may have finally run out of new horror movies to launch before the end of the month.

Instead, many of this week’s top 10 movies aren’t horror-related at all, including the gripping new thriller, A House of Dynamite.

With awards season coming up, Netflix may have high hopes for that film to bring home Oscar gold.

In the meantime, it’s Watch With Us‘ pick for the week. All three of our selections for Netflix’s most popular movies that you need to watch can be found below.

5 Great Netflix Movies to Watch Before They Leave in November 2025

‘A House of Dynamite’ (2025)

Nobody expects the end of the world to happen until it’s right on top of them. Humanity’s time may have run out in A House of Dynamite, a tense new thriller by Oscar-winning director Kathryn Bigelow. In this buzzy new film, a nuclear missile is launched towards Chicago. And by the time the government notices that it’s coming, it’s already too late to do anything but pray and hope for the best.

Rebecca Ferguson stars as Captain Olivia Walker, one of the first women to notice the incoming missile. The impending doom is seen all over her face, and the same goes for the President (Idris Elba). The decision about whether or not to retaliate for the attack is too big for any single man, including this one.

‘Sundown’ (2022)

Tim Roth is the poster child for emotional abandonment in Sundown. While on vacation in Acapulco with his sister, Alice (Charlotte Gainsbourg), and her children, Neil learns that his mother has died. But rather than accompany his family home, Neil concocts an excuse to stay on vacation in Acapulco and leaves his sister rudderless in her time of need.

However, Neil is only concerned with his own needs, and even a new relationship with a local woman, Berenice (Iazua Larios), can’t fill the void in his heart. Neil thinks he’s found a place where he can be safe from his family’s drama, but it catches up to him surprisingly — and tragically. And it’s all because he wouldn’t come home.

‘Taken in Plain Sight’ (2024)

Taken in Plain Sight was a TV movie thriller that was made for the Lifetime cable network, but it’s picked up traction on Netflix as one of its top five movies right now. Tennille Read leads the cast as Abby, the mother of a young girl named Zooey (KJ Romani). During an otherwise routine trip together, Zooey inexplicably vanishes, leaving Abby emotionally devastated.

Months later, Abby’s own investigation leads her closer to the person responsible for her daughter’s disappearance. And if the police won’t listen to her or do anything to follow up on her lead, then Abby is going to do it herself, regardless of the potential consequences.
