A Border Force officer has been charged with conspiring to import class A drugs after 25kg of heroin was found in a suitcase.

Syed Shah, 39, of Hodge Hill, was arrested at Birmingham Airport on 24 October and will appear at a court in the city today.

The National Crime Agency said the drugs were in a case belonging to Zahida Perveen, 67, from Manchester, who had just arrived on a flight from Pakistan.

Perveen has also been charged with conspiracy to import class A drugs, as has a third person – Shahid Butt, 52, from Saltley in Birmingham.

Butt and Shah are also facing money laundering charges.
