Maggie Baugh’s friend and fellow musician Alexandra Kay is coming to her defense after rumors surrounding Keith Urban ran rampant amid his divorce from Nicole Kidman.
“Honestly, I was heartbroken for them because the media scrutiny is insane and the things that people say … They’re like, stirring up rumors about Maggie Baugh, and I’m like, ‘She’s a good friend of mine and I know that’s absolutely not true,’” Kay, 34, told Taste of Country Nights on Wednesday, October 22, about the guitarist.
Kay confirmed Baugh, 25, is happily in a relationship, adding, “I’ve met her boyfriend, and she’s very happy, and she has nothing to do with that whole [Kidman and Urban] relationship.”
Kay said that she feels “sad for everybody involved that people are doing that and picking apart their personal life.”
“I pray for peace for them and for everybody to have their privacy,” the country music artist added.
Maggie Baugh Returns to Instagram After Keith Urban Rumors and Lyric Change
Rumors first began swirling about Baugh and Urban, 57, after a video surfaced on social media of the singer changing the lyrics of his song “The Fighter” from “When they’re tryna get to you, baby I’ll be the fighter” to “When they’re tryna get to you, Maggie I’ll be your guitar player” at a recent concert. Through the years, Urban was very open about the song being about Kidman.
Baugh reposted the video with the lyric change via Instagram on September 27, captioning the post, “Did he just say that👀.”
While Baugh and Urban did not directly respond to rumors that Baugh was responsible for Urban and Kidman’s split, her father, Chuck Baugh, did address the chatter on social media. Chuck shared a video via Facebook that claimed that Maggie may “allegedly [be] the person responsible for Keith’s divorce from Nicole Kidman.” He clapped back at the rumors, writing, “NO. Just No,” in response on October 1.

Us Weekly confirmed Kidman, 58, and Urban had separated after nearly 20 years of marriage on September 29. Kidman filed for divorce the following day, citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for their split. The “Blue Ain’t Your Color” singer and the Lioness actress share two daughters, Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14.
In court documents obtained by Us, Kidman requested to be the “primary residential parent” to the girls and also worked out a parenting plan that declared Sunday and Faith will spend 306 days out of the year with Kidman and 59 days with Urban.
Since the divorce filing, Kidman has stepped out in public on a handful of occasions, attending the Chanel Womenswear Spring/Summer 2026 show as part of Paris Fashion Week on October 6 with Sunday and Faith. Keith, for his part, wrapped up his High and Alive World Tour on October 17 in Nashville and has several shows lined up in 2026.
Isla Fisher Is Shocked’ by Friend’s Nicole Kidman Divorce From Keith Urban
An insider told Us earlier this week that Kidman is focusing on her children following the breakup.
“The hardest part is navigating the dynamic with their daughters,” the insider said, adding, “The last thing Nicole wanted was a broken family.”
Kidman, who has a full slate of projects keeping her schedule busy, including season 3 of Big Little Lies and Practical Magic 2, is “pushing forward in a good way,” the source added.
“This next chapter feels more like a transition than a shock,” the insider said.
