Is there anything scarier than the Boogeyman? That’s what Prime Video subscribers will be asking themselves this weekend.

The streamer just added The Boogeyman, a horror hidden gem with Chris Messina that’s just waiting to be found.

If straight-up action is more your thing, there’s End of Days, which has Arnold Schwarzenegger taking on the Devil himself. (My money’s on the former Governator.)

Finally, the Bond film A View to a Kill scares some people for all the wrong reasons, but if you look at it as a comedy, it’s one of the more enjoyable old 007 flicks.

‘The Boogeyman’ (2023)

Therapist Will Harper (Chris Messina) is still grieving the death of his wife when he experiences a strange encounter with one of his patients, Lester (David Dastmalchian). After telling Will that his family has been murdered by an evil spirit, Lester hangs himself in Will’s house. Afterwards, Will and his two daughters, Sadie (Sophie Thatcher) and Sawyer (Vivien Lyra Blair), are haunted by that spirit, which they nickname “The Boogeyman.” Will doesn’t want what happened to Lester’s family to happen to his, but how can he – or anyone – stop something that doesn’t technically exist?

6 New Movies to Watch This Weekend on Netflix, Prime Video and More (October 24-26)

Based on a Stephen King short story, The Boogeyman has just enough creepy imagery and jump scares to be a worthwhile horror movie. The movie is most effective when it focuses on Will’s daughters and their gradual realization that something is seriously wrong. The final act is a bit rushed, but it’s still a satisfying film to watch with Halloween just around the corner.

The Boogeyman is streaming on Prime Video.

‘End of Days’ (1999)

1999 was a strange time. The Backstreet Boys ruled the music charts, The Matrix blew everyone away in multiplexes worldwide and a lot of people believed the Y2K bug would bring down civilization. That might explain why the apocalyptic action movie End of Days was released near the end of the year. While not a huge success, it has enough entertaining aspects to make it worth a watch, and one of lead star Arnold Schwarzenegger‘s most underrated action performances.

The Terminator actor stars as Jericho Cane, an alcoholic NYPD officer who, after the death of his wife and child, doesn’t care if he lives or dies. He still has to work, though, and his next case is a doozy – he has to protect a young woman, Christine York (Robin Tunney), from religious zealots who want to kill her. They think she’s Satan’s bride-to-be, chosen to bear the Antichrist, and it turns out, they’re right! Now, Jericho has to save Christine from getting killed and ushering in the apocalypse by giving birth to a literal devil child. The worst part? Jericho isn’t getting paid any overtime!

End of Days is silly and plagued with unconvincing CGI demons that were dated even back then, but Schwarzenegger carries this film on his bodybuilder shoulders. His Jericho is a broken man who still has enough willpower to do the right thing, even if that means staring down the forces of darkness right in the face.

End of Days is streaming on Prime Video.

‘A View to a Kill’ (1985)

Among James Bond enthusiasts, A View to a Kill is viewed with the same derision as, say, Jeffrey Dahmer. But I have a special fondness for the movie, and that’s because it’s so flawed and messy. Roger Moore returns for the seventh and final time as 007, who is investigating the Nazi-engineered tech bro Max Zorin (Christopher Walken). He wants to destroy Silicon Valley to monopolize the manufacturing of computer chips, and he doesn’t mind if he kills a few million people to do it. Bond doesn’t intend that to happen, but can he overcome Zorin’s henchmen, which include the lethal May Day (Grace Jones)?

15 Must-Watch Action Movies on Prime Video Right Now (October 2025)

Of course he can. It’s no spoiler to reveal that Bond saves the day, but it’s how he does it that makes this movie so interesting. If you treat A View to a Kill as what it is – a silly action comedy with some amazing stunts –it’s actually quite fun. To paraphrase Danny Glover in Lethal Weapon, Moore is too old for this s***, but he still sports that tongue-in-cheek humor that made him so enjoyable in past, better Bond films like The Spy Who Loved Me. Walken is just the right amount of over the top as the sleek blond villain, while Jones is simply sensational as one of the few Bond women who could take out the secret agent in hand-to-hand combat.

A View to a Kill is streaming on Prime Video.
