Kody Brown is committed to winning Special Forces, but he isn’t as focused on working well with teammates Gia Giudice and Brianna “Chickenfry” LaPaglia.
In Us Weekly‘s exclusive clip from the Thursday, October 23, episode, Kody, 56, is partnered up with Gia, 24, and Brianna, 26, who he chooses to ignore during a challenge that requires them to work together. Gia asks Kody to “slow down,” but he keeps pushing them to follow his lead — despite their frustration.
“I have been known for my intense personality,” he explains in the sneak peek. “I am the loud, obnoxious type and not the strong, silent type.”
The rest of the clip shows Gia — and Brianna — urging Kody to stay “calm and collected.” It remains to be seen if he takes the advice. (Kody hasn’t always been on the same page as his fellow recruits throughout the fourth season of the Fox series.)

Special Forces, which premiered in 2023, puts contestants through harsh, military-style training based on actual special forces selection processes. They face intense physical and mental challenges designed to push every boundary.
In addition to Kody, Brianna and Gia, season 4 stars Teresa Giudice, Jussie Smollett, Brittany Cartwright, Eric Decker, Jessie James Decker, Johnny Manziel, Chanel Iman, Nick Young, Ravi Patel, Andrew East, Shawn Johnson East, Randall Cobb, Mark Estes, Eva Marcille and Christie Pearce.
Before the season premiered, Kody exclusively opened up to Us Weekly about the challenges he faced while filming the show.
“There was one time when my muscles gave out,” he shared in September. “We were supposed to be swinging across monkey bars, and I had sand on my hands, and I couldn’t cup the monkey bars. I just didn’t have the strength anymore to do it.”
Kody didn’t know exactly what he signed up for with Special Forces, adding, “I don’t even know what they call the punishment. We’re standing and I’ve been in this water, and I started to shiver. I don’t want the DS [to see] that. I don’t want them seeing any signs of weakness because they’ll play on that.”
Kody said he leaned into a fake wheeze to make it easier for himself.
“When we had been just run ragged, [I was] wheezing, and it was a little bit fake,” he told Us. “I figured if they thought I was really working hard, they wouldn’t try to push me more, and I might need some energy for later. So, I’m sitting there doing press-ups, and I’m, like, wheezing. I knew that my limits physically were never reached. I had more to give physically.”

Despite the setbacks, Kody was glad to have support from wife Robyn Brown.
“When they called me about Special Forces, I’m telling my wife, and she’s like, ‘We’re going to have to discuss this.’ One month went by, another month, we never discussed it,” he recalled. “[I’m like], ‘We’re not going to discuss it, are we?’ She says, ‘I know you’re going to do it. There’s no way I can stop you.’”
Kody added: “Maybe going was stupid, but it’s the kind of challenge that you almost relish. It’s like, in my age, the idea of having a purpose to get into the kind of shape you need to be for this was just marvelous. It was almost spiritual.”
