Kaitlin Olson‘s High Potential character, Morgan, has found herself another love interest in All My Children‘s Aiden Turner.
In the trailer for the midseason finale, which airs on Tuesday, October 28, Turner, 48, makes his debut as Rhys. His official character breakdown describes Rhys as “a quick-witted, well-tailored art recovery specialist with the tenacity of a prosecutor and the instincts of a seasoned detective. Equal parts cultured and street savvy, Rhys navigates the murky world of stolen masterpieces.”
Morgan and Rhys appear to form a connection, which ultimately ends with them seemingly hooking up while working a case involving a heist. This new connection might come as a surprise to fans rooting for Morgan to find love with her work partner Karadec (Daniel Sunjata).
The police procedural, which premiered in September 2024, follows a high-potential intellectual — Morgan — who teams up with the LAPD to help solve murders. She gets paired up with Karadec, who is initially skeptical about Morgan’s involvement with the Major Crimes unit but ultimately starts to rely on her.

Despite their obvious onscreen chemistry, the cast has played coy about the chances of Morgan and Karadec’s connection becoming romantic.
“I will definitely say that I actually don’t have the actual ultimate answer to where they’re going to go. In terms of the will-they-won’t-they between Karadec and Morgan, that is up to our writers’ room,” Sunjata, 53, exclusively told Us Weekly in November 2024. “I think that they’re going to play the long game with that particular story line.”
Sunjata noted that he for sure sees some sort of connection brewing. “I would say that there’s definitely some electricity between the two of them. There’s a reluctant mutual attraction that’s happening,” he added. “But I don’t think we should expect to see anything crazy about that happening anytime soon.”
In terms of the show’s writers, showrunner Todd Harthan didn’t rule out a possible romance in the future.
“You never know. I don’t let my guard down about those things either. I don’t get overly confident until your audience dictates a lot of the things you do. What do they have a big appetite for?” he shared with Us. “I might be infamous for slow planning things, but I love a slow burn. Like, selfishly I just love it.”

Harthan continued: “We’re going to write that for a while. Even if you at some point fall in love with somebody, maybe you also are more in love with the partnership and the friendship. And maybe you are scared enough of the risk of crossing certain lines,” he hinted. “To me, it’s so fun to play in that space before you cross certain lines. There’s a lot of life in this show and I want to make sure we do it at a pace that doesn’t leave a good story on the table.”
Before season 2 premiered on ABC, Sunjata told Us during a set visit that Morgan will have “options” going into the next batch of episodes — as well Karadec. For Morgan, options also seem to include Steve Howey’s character, Nick Wagner.
“Obviously in season 1 [Karadec and Morgan] have this little flirtation, but I’m taller so that goes a long way,” Howey quipped to Us at Fox Studios in Los Angeles. “It’s so easy to work with Kaitlin. She’s so smart and funny that you really just need to say your lines. It’s easy. She’s a joy to work with because she brings different things [to the table] and she adds her ideas and I am a huge fan. She definitely keeps me on my toes.”
High Potential airs on ABC Tuesdays at 10 p.m. ET before streaming the next day on Hulu.
