Apple Martin is taking after her father.
Apple, the eldest child of Gwyneth Paltrow and Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, made a surprise appearance onstage at Nashville’s Cannery Hall on Friday, October 17, performing with the band Jade Street.
The 21-year-old sang “Satellites,” her new collaboration with musicians Eli Meyuhas and Zachery Zwelling, who formed Jade Street at Vanderbilt University, where Apple is a senior. According to The Vanderbilt Hustler, Chris, 48, was in the audience when Apple took the stage.
“The Grammy award-winning singer made it clear to fans that while he enjoyed meeting them, he was there to support his daughter and didn’t want the night to be focused on him,” wrote the outlet’s Skeylor DeLoach.

In a TikTok of Apple’s performance, she is seen crooning the song with a lilting soprano voice and wearing a simple white tank top and black skirt. She swayed to the music as her classmates played guitar.
Gwyneth, 53, also shares son Moses, 19, with Chris. The exes announced their “conscious uncoupling” in 2014, finalizing their divorce two years later. Gwyneth married Brad Falchuck in 2018.
The actress and Goop founder had a difficult time when her firstborn left home to attend Vanderbilt. (Apple is studying law, history and society.)
“It’s been a major transition,” Gwyneth exclusively told Us Weekly in 2022. “I didn’t know what to expect, but I knew it would be hard because Apple and I are so close and were together all the time. But I had no idea. It was like the worst heartbreak I’ve ever [felt]. I felt like the love of my life broke up with me for weeks. It was terrible.”

She continued, “Now, I’m getting more used to it and it also helps to see her happy and well-adjusted. That makes a huge difference.”
Lately, Apple has been getting in the fashion game, appearing alongside Gwyneth in a new Gap campaign launched last month. She’s also secured a major deal as the latest famous face of Self-Portrait, a London-based brand known for its girly, glam aesthetic.
“I constantly remind myself how grateful I am to have these opportunities,” Apple said in an interview with The Telegraph published on October 14. “I know this is not a normal way to grow up by any means.”
She added that “my parents did a really good job of instilling in me that I shouldn’t be entitled to anything. I have to work.”

Despite her high-profile background, Apple said that she grounds herself by having a “normal college experience” and “hanging out with friends.”
Out of the spotlight, “That’s how I like to unwind,” she explained. “We’ll sit down and do little guitar playing sessions, one person will play and the others will sing. I also love watching reality TV with my friends. There was one day we spent five hours on the couch and just watched old episodes of America’s Next Top Model.”
