Jennifer Flavin opened up about how she and husband Sylvester Stallone’s marriage has come out stronger despite their ups and downs.

“There is no perfect marriage. So, everyone that’s looking for that dream marriage, there’s no such thing,” Flavin, 57, said in Us Weekly’s exclusive first look at the upcoming episode of “The Katie Miller Podcast” which drops on Monday, October 20. “You have good days, you have bad days. You have good years and you have bad years. You have tough times but you have great times.”

Flavin explained that she’s noticed that when things “get a little tough” for others, that’s when people tend to “jump” instead of working out their issues. She also shared her tips and tricks on how to navigate relationship woes.

“The one thing I would say is, be patient with one another,” she advised. “It’s so hard because everyone has a different mentality in marriage and what they’re going for in a marriage.”

Flavin also gave some insight about how her and Stallone, 79, have persevered through their rough patches.

“My marriage has lasted the test of time because I’m incredibly patient and I’m incredibly forgiving,” she said, earning a laugh from Miller.

All jokes aside, Flavin also credited her and Stallone’s success to making sure they have time for one another outside of spending time with their children. (The couple share three daughters Sophia Rose, 28, Sistine Rose, 26, and Scarlet Rose, 22. Stallone also welcomed sons Seargeoh, 44, and Sage during his first marriage to actress Sasha Czack. Sage died of coronary artery disease in 2012 at age 36.)

“Once the kids go to bed, it is really important to have husband and wife time … you can’t always focus on children,” she reflected. “Go have a glass of wine together, go sit outside where the kids can’t hear you, and just reconnect.”

Flavin continued, “Because if you’re good as husband and wife, your children will be good.”

Stallone and Flavin met in 1988 and dated for six years before they split. Stallone sent a breakup letter to Flavin via FedEx to end things. However, the pair ended up rekindling their relationship years later and tied the knot in 1997.

In August 2022, Flavin filed for divorce from Stallone. However, the twosome reconciled two months later. Us Weekly confirmed at the time that the paperwork had been dismissed.

Jennifer Flavin Struggled With Identity Before Sly Stallone Split

“There was a reawakening of what was more valuable than anything, which is my love for my family. It takes precedence over my work, and that was a hard lesson to learn,” the Rocky actor told the Sunday Times after they rekindled. “I didn’t pay enough attention when [my kids] were growing up. I was so career-oriented, and now I go, ‘OK, I don’t have that much runway up ahead, and I want to start asking them about their lives.’”

In December 2024, Stallone candidly called himself a “coward” for how he handled his first breakup with Flavin.

“You put it down in words ’cause you don’t have the guts to do it face-to-face,” he reflected during an appearance on Fox Nation’s series Sean with Sean Hannity. “I mean, I couldn’t live without her. She is my everything. My sun and my moon. Everything.”

Flavin’s full episode of “The Katie Miller Podcast” will be released on Monday, October 20, at 6 p.m. ET.
