— Dan Tremble, one of five Bangor city councilors who voted against a resolve that would have established an official process for any future cooperation between the city’s police department and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. The resolve failed by a 5-3 vote.

A resolve on immigration enforcement failed in a Bangor City Council vote. The proposal had many supporters at a crowded council meeting and a few detractors, including some whose hateful remarks delivered anonymously over Zoom led the council to rethink its public comment policy. 

The number of Maine homes for sale hit a post-pandemic high. The rebound since 2020 has been significant but the volume of homes for sale still isn’t where it was a decade ago.

This central Maine couple sold their 200-acre farm to run an Aroostook convenience store. A series of coincidences steered Sarah Leavitt and Bill Witham away from raising goats, poultry and pigs to the new opportunity.

Janet Mills would support keeping the filibuster if elected to the Senate. The Democratic governor’s stance is shared by U.S. Sen. Susan Collins, the Republican whom Mills entered the race to defeat earlier this week.
