The University of Maine will test its emergency alert system next week.
At noon Wednesday, the university will do a complete test of the emergency alert system, including sounding its outdoor siren for several minutes.
UMaine established its emergency alert system in 2007.
When activated, the system sends out text alerts to anyone who has subscribed to the alert system; the university police department activates the sirens; information is posted to the university’s website, social media and the student portal; and a recorded message is played whenever anyone calls 207-581-4636.
