Bangor voters will get the chance to ask questions of the candidates running for City Council and School Committee at a public forum Thursday evening.

The event will be hosted by the local League of Women Voters chapter in City Hall at 73 Harlow St.

City Council hopefuls taking the stage Thursday are part of Bangor’s largest candidate pool in the last six years. Of the nine people running, the three who voters choose on Election Day could play a role in setting a new tone for a body that has become increasingly chaotic in recent months.

The pool for Bangor’s School Committee is smaller, with four candidates running for four open seats.

School Committee candidates will speak at the forum from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., while City Council candidates will speak from 6:45 to 8 p.m. The event will also be livestreamed online.

Community members can submit questions ahead of time by email, according to the City of Bangor’s website.

The BDN has profiled all nine City Council candidates. You can read about them here and hear directly from them about how they’d solve Bangor’s biggest issues here.
