If Question 1 simply asked if you want voter ID, you could easily vote yes or no. But instead it causes harm to people like me, an 89-year-old wheelchair-bound legally registered American citizen. It would forbid me from calling my town hall to ask that a ballot be mailed to me and do other harms as well.
Your ballot will say: “Do you want to change Maine election laws to eliminate two days of absentee voting, prohibit requests for absentee ballots by phone or family members, end ongoing absentee voter status for seniors and people with disabilities, ban prepaid postage on absentee ballot return envelopes, limit the number of drop boxes, require voters to show certain photo ID before voting, and make other changes to our elections?”
Please join me in voting “no” on taking away so many important rights and maybe next time they can put in a simple yes or no question on the ballot on voter ID.
