I’m one of four candidates running for two seats on the Bangor School Committee this November.
A few weeks ago, I reached out to a former student after reading something they wrote about current events. Their words reflected compassion, curiosity, and respect for others, core values of my teaching and values that I’ll bring with me as a school committee member.
This work is personal to me. When my son started kindergarten, I felt the same worries every parent does. But from the front office staff and custodians to counselors, specialists, and his teacher, everyone made him feel seen, supported, and capable. That’s the Bangor I know, a community that cares deeply about kids.
As a former teacher, a mom, and in my role with the Maine Education Association, where I support and train educators, I’ve seen our schools from many perspectives. I know how much our students and families count on them. I’m committed to listening first. Listening to what matters to you, what concerns you, and what you’re proud of.
If elected, I’ll support policies that strengthen the connection between our schools, families, and community, and ensure educators have the tools they need to help every student reach their potential.
Our schools thrive when they encourage humanity, curiosity, and connection. That’s the Bangor I love and the Bangor I want for every student. I would be honored to have your support on Nov. 4.
