Julia Roberts’ husband, Danny Moder, isn’t really a jealous person — but her former costars Dominic West was rather unsettled with him being on set.
“The funniest scenario we were ever in was Danny behind the camera shooting on Mona Lisa Smile when I’m supposed to be kissing Dominic West,” Roberts, 57, recalled during a Wednesday, October 9, appearance on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen. “We were newlyweds.”
She and West, now 55, were “laying on a blanket” when he turned to her and said, “I’m so uncomfortable.” (Moder was the film’s cinematographer.)
Roberts married Moder, 56, in 2002, two years after they met. Mona Lisa Smile was released the following year. The couple, who share three children (twins Hazel and Phinnaeus, 20, and son Henry, 18), have been together for 25 years. Roberts also shared her secret to success during Wednesday’s talk show appearance.

“I would say, ‘Marry Danny Moder,’ but I’ve already done that,” Roberts quipped before sharing her sister’s relationship advice.
“My sister’s been married longer than me and I remember asking her and she said, ‘Two separate phone lines’ — which that doesn’t exist anymore,” Roberts said. “And two bathroom sinks.”
She added, “Have a door to close on the loo, for sure.”
While Roberts generally stays tight lipped about her relationship, the actress did offer some details about her personal life on CBS Mornings in 2022.
“The life that I’ve built with my husband, the life that we’ve built with our children [is a dream come true],” she shared at the time. “And that’s the best stuff, to come home at the end of the day triumphantly to them.”
Roberts has since divulged some details about Her and Moder’s parenting style when it comes to their three kids.
“I think they were, for sure, some of the last kids in their peer groups to get phones and stuff like that,” she said in an interview with 72 Magazine last month. “When they were younger, certainly, Danny and I would have been considered some of the stricter parents. Not like we’re laying down the law, but these are the rules and they don’t change. Here’s the boundary of your life and it does not shift.”

She absolutely did not want the kids getting an answer from her before going to “ask dad and get a different answer.” Roberts noted “that doesn’t happen” and “will never happen.”
The actress concluded: “I think that is what creates the stability that then allows them to feel secure because you know there is this fixed world of love and safety that exists unconditionally.”
Roberts also discussed what it’s like to have adult children during an October 1 appearance on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert.
“It’s all fun. Honestly it is all so delicious and my kids… I know everyone thinks their kids are great … well. I think my kids are great,” she gushed. “I just love hanging out with them and spending time with them and fortunately we have had lots of visits along the way of this emptiness.”
