Andy Cohen’s advice set Paige DeSorbo up for success after leaving Bravo.

“I’ve always heard Andy be very like, ‘You should have things outside of Bravo,’” DeSorbo, 32, told The Zoe Report in a profile published Wednesday, October 8. “In earlier seasons, he’d be like, ‘You’re saving your money, right? And you’re making good financial decisions and you’re building things outside of it?’”

She added, “It would be like seeing your dad and him being like, ‘And let me see your report card.’ So when he was proud of me for Radio City, I was like, ‘I peaked — and now I have to leave.’”

DeSorbo was, of course, referring to her and best friend (and former Bravo costar) Hannah Berner’s “Giggy Squad” podcast’s two-night live show this past January at Radio City Music Hall in New York City.

What Is Next for Paige DeSorbo After ‘Summer House’ Exit?

Earlier this year, DeSorbo announced her decision to leave Bravo’s Summer House after seven years on the show.

“I have a little life update for you: I’ve made the decision not to return to Summer House,” she announced via Instagram in June. “Being a part of this show has been one of the most rewarding chapters of my life — the friendships, the drama, the giggles, all unforgettable.”

DeSorbo added, “You’ve seen me grow up over these last seven summers. I’ll always be beyond grateful for the memories, the community and the opportunities this wild ride has brought me. But like all good things (and some bad decisions), it’s time for this chapter to close.”

DeSorbo told The Zoe Report that it was “a full-time gig” being on Bravo — even though Summer House only filmed in the summer months.

“There was always an expiration date because I could never do that model much longer,” she added. “It did feel like, ‘OK, that is my steady hometown boyfriend. I’d live a fine life with him. But could I just see if there’s more?’”

Aside from being a successful podcast host, DeSorbo is a businesswoman. She launched the Daphne loungewear brand in June.

“Behind the scenes, from the day I got on [TV], I knew I wanted to put out some type of product,” she recalled. “Cultivating my brand throughout these seven years was not as easy as it looked, because it could have gone really left really quickly if I didn’t jump on it.”

DeSorbo admitted she was “devastated” by fans who thought she was “lazy” on the show.

“I truly was so upset about it,” she added. “I feel like if I didn’t immediately lean in and act on it, I could have not been taken seriously at all.”

That, she explained, is how the idea for Daphne was born.

“One of my girlfriends said, ‘When I’m wearing Daphne, I want to get things done,’” she added. “The Daphne sets, yes, they’re lounge and cotton and you can sleep in them, but when you have a set on, you’re like, ‘Let me literally run through this list that I’ve been putting off for a minute.’”

DeSorbo continued: “I say it’s for the girls, but it’s for me.”
