When it comes to sharing advice with her teenage daughters, Nicole Kidman apparently leans on Taylor Swift’s musical wisdom.
In an interview with Vogue published Wednesday, October 8, Kidman, 58, said she often tells her daughters Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14, whom she shares with estranged husband Keith Urban, to “shake it off” — just like Swift, 35, emphatically sings in her 2014 hit from her album 1989.
“Literally walk away from it. Because it will fell you. It will destroy you,” Kidman said when asked about haters and online judgment.
A public life doesn’t just befall Kidman, as Sunday began modeling last year. She has walked the runway for Miu Miu twice and most recently appeared in the Dior presentation at Paris Fashion Week on October 1.
What Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban’s Lives Look Like After Divorce
“It’s very frightening for me,” Kidman admitted of Sunday’s career choice. “[But] I started working at 14, so I don’t really have a leg to stand on.”
Sunday and Faith joined their mom at Chanel’s show in Paris on Monday, October 6, amid news of Kidman and Urban’s split. Kidman filed for divorce from Urban, 57, on September 30 after 19 years of marriage, citing irreconcilable differences.

The pair were last photographed together at the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 game in Nashville on June 20. Kidman last posted about Urban via Instagram on June 25, in celebration of their wedding anniversary.
“Happy Anniversary Baby ❤️ @KeithUrban,” the Big Little Lies alum captioned a black-and-white photo of the former couple backstage at one of Urban’s shows. He simply responded by posting a heart in the comments section.
Kidman was previously married to Tom Cruise from 1990 to 2001, and they adopted two children together: Bella, 32, and Connor, 30.
In her Vogue cover story, Kidman shared that she spent the summer abroad with Sunday and Faith while filming Practical Magical 2 with Sandra Bullock in London.
As producers on the film, Kidman said she and Bullock, 61, decided July and August would be an ideal time to shoot so they could have their children with them over school break. (Bullock is the single mom of Louis and Laila, whom she adopted in 2010 and 2015, respectively.)

Kidman said the families had a wonderful time together. “Going to Hyde Park and concerts, Glastonbury and Salisbury — so much summer fun,” she told Vogue. “Evita, seeing theater, walking Hampstead Heath, swimming there. Went to Portugal, went to Greece, had my nieces and nephews around, lots of family: my sister, my best friend since I was 4 and her three children. A very tight group.”

Now, amid a transition period in her life, Kidman is “protecting” herself and her family — despite an innate desire to be an open book.
“My sense of duty and of being a good girl is so strong,” Kidman said. “[But] at this age … I’m protecting myself when I need to. It’s my right — as Virginia Woolf used to say — it’s my right as a human being.”
