Not everyone loves dealing with ads, but if you can weather a few, then you’ll realize that Tubi is the best free streaming service out there.

Right now, the people’s platform has a fantastic selection of thrillers to watch for ample mystery and suspense this October, and Watch With Us has highlighted a few of our favorites.

Our picks include Memories of Murder, a neo-noir from Bong Joon Ho that will have you on the edge of your seat, and David Lynch’s iconic Blue Velvet, a film that features one of the best movie villains of all time.

3 Must-Watch Thrillers You Need to Stream in September 2025

‘Vivarium’ (2019)

Happy couple Gemma (Imogen Poots) and Tom (Jesse Eisenberg) look to move to a picturesque suburb where all the houses look identical to one another, the perfect place to settle down and have a family. But when they try to leave, they find that they are unable to — and what’s more, they’ve been given a child to raise. Every time they attempt to escape the labyrinthine settlement, they find themselves right back where they started.

Will Tom and Gemma find their way out of the vivarium-like maze? You’ll have to watch to find out. Vivarium is a sci-fi puzzle box thriller whose mysteries may confound some viewers, but trust that the ambiguity is very rewarding in the end. Led by some stellar acting from Poots and Eisenberg, Vivarium explores some fascinating ideas in an endlessly stylistic way.

‘Memories of Murder’ (2003)

The director of Parasite helmed this detective thriller from 2003, in which two bumbling detectives get wrapped up in the case involving South Korea’s first documented serial killer. In 1986, Park (Song Kang-ho) and Cho (Kim Roi-ha) are assigned to a double murder case, but when more murders are committed that fall into the same pattern, they realize they’re dealing with something they’ve never faced before. With limited resources available to them, Park and Cho are determined to hunt down the killer.

Memories of Murder is based on the real-life events surrounding Lee Choon-jae, a South Korean serial killer who murdered fifteen women and girls. Ho’s film treats this real story with care and consideration, and fans of David Fincher’s Zodiac will find a lot of similarities between the two true-crime movies. Often considered one of the best films of the 21st century, Memories of Murder has an exceptional narrative and impressive performances, and the type of social satire that fans have come to expect from the Academy Award-winning director.

‘Blue Velvet’ (1986)

Well-to-do college student Jeffrey Beaumont (Kyle MacLachlan) returns home from college while his father is in the hospital after suffering a serious accident. Back in his hometown, he comes across a severed ear in an open field and ends up involved in a deadly mystery surrounding a troubled lounge singer named Dorothy Vallens (Isabella Rossellini). At the whims of psychopathic drug lord Frank Booth (Dennis Hopper), Dorothy and her family’s lives are in danger, and Jeffrey finds himself as her only means of escape.

David Lynch’s surrealist neo-noir thriller was considered controversial at the time of release for what some deemed excessive explicit material, but the film went on to garner Lynch an Academy Award nomination for Best Director. Now widely regarded as an iconic American film and one of the greatest of all time, the film is notable for having revitalized Hopper’s then-floundering career as well as providing Laura Dern with one of her primary breakout roles.

‘Memento’ (2000)

Suffering from an untreatable form of short-term memory loss, Leonard (Guy Pearce) fights to uncover who murdered his wife through the notes, photographs, and tattoos on his body that he amasses to jog his memory. Unable to remember recent memories or form new ones, Leonard endures a Russian nesting doll of uncovered clues and possible perpetrators in his quest to find who committed the crime and left him with his disability.

Christopher Nolan is known for his intricately structured, narratively complex films, and Memento is perhaps the most twisted and convoluted of them all. The film utilizes a dueling narrative gimmick in which one version of Leonard’s story is told chronologically in black-and-white, while another, in color, is shown in reverse order, meant to simulate Leonard’s mental state as he tries to solve the crime. Exploring themes of memory, grief and self-deception, Memento is an emotionally devastating and existentialist film in addition to being wildly entertaining.

‘The Clovehitch Killer’ (2018)

Tyler (Charlie Plummer) comes from a normal suburban family, but he finds his average upbringing starts to unravel when he discovers a disturbing photo in his father’s car. The photo leads him to a growing suspicion that his father (Dylan McDermott) may be responsible for murdering thirteen young girls ten years ago. Tyler embarks on an investigation to find out once and for all whether or not his dad is really the man he believes him to be.

What’s New on Tubi in October 2025: ’30 Days of Night’ and More

The Clovehitch Killer is a tight, tense film with a mystery that will keep you glued to the screen. Patient and deliriously tense, the somewhat conventional narrative is no less compelling, fortified by some terrific direction and central performances from Plummer and McDermott. If you didn’t already know, The Clovehitch Killer is actually based on the real-life BTK Killer who terrorized Kansas between the 1970s and 1990s, just in case you needed a reminder that real monsters do exist.
