Police in Ireland have not received a formal complaint after Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Skylar Thompson was allegedly jumped and robbed during the team’s trip to Dublin.

Thompson, 28, reportedly sustained minor injuries in the robbery, which allegedly happened while the Steelers were in Ireland to face the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, September 28.

The Irish national police, An Garda Síochána, released a statement about the incident on Monday, September 29.

Police “encountered a male who required medical assistance” on the morning of Saturday, September 27.

“The male in his 20s was treated and assessed at the scene by emergency services personnel,” the statement read, per the Irish Independent. “No formal complaint has been made by any person at this time.”

Authorities said they had “no further information to substantiate, or not, any report this incident involved a robbery.”

Us Weekly has reached out to the Steelers for comment.

According to the Independent, the alleged incident Thompson “involved several men” near the Temple Bar area in Dublin. The outlet reported Thompson was briefly hospitalized at St. James’s Hospital before being discharged.

The Steelers addressed the alleged robbery of Thompson, who is currently on injured reserve, on Sunday.

“We are aware of a situation involving Skylar Thompson on Friday night in Dublin,” Steelers spokesperson Burt Lauten said in a statement to Us Weekly. “We will have no further comment at this time as we are working with NFL security to gather more information regarding the incident.”

NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported on Sunday that Thompson had been “jumped and robbed.” Pelissero said that Thompson was “OK” and had returned to be with the team.

The NFL Players’ Association also issued a statement on the alleged incident, pledging their support to Thompson.

“The NFLPA is actively gathering more information and working to understand the full circumstances surrounding what took place,” the NFLPA statement read. “As always, our priority is the health and safety of our player members — especially as we continue to work on the player protections and well-being while playing international games — and we will continue to support Skylar in any way he needs.”

When asked about the incident involving Thompson after the game — a 24-21 Steelers victory over the Vikings — Pittsburgh linebacker T.J. Watt said, “I don’t have enough to comment on that.”

Thompson was selected by the Miami Dolphins in the seventh round of the 2022 NFL Draft. He appeared in seven games for the Dolphins during his rookie season, starting in two.

The quarterback was signed to a reserve/future contract by the Steelers in January. Thompson was placed on injured reserve after suffering a hamstring injury in practice earlier this month.

The Steelers have a bye week in Week 5 before returning to action against the Cleveland Browns on October 12.

Thompson was a surprise addition to the Steelers’ 53-man roster last month after a strong performance during training camp and preseason.

“I was very confident in the work I put in this preseason,” Thompson told reporters. “What I put on tape, I had confidence whether it was going to be here [in Pittsburgh] or somewhere else, that was going to be the best move for me. That really set me free. A guy in my shoes, you have to make the most of your opportunities. I just felt like my mind was on the right things, so whenever the opportunity presented itself, I felt free and felt ready, and was able to play confident.”
