Miami Dolphins star wide receiver Tyreek Hill suffered a gruesome knee injury during his team’s game against the New York Jets on Monday Night Football.
The injury came during the third quarter of the game at Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium on Monday, September 29, when he tried to brace himself after a tackle and his knee got caught under him.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on Tuesday, September 30 that Hill had torn his ACL along with other ligaments in that knee, meaning he will miss the remainder of the 2025 season. He is scheduled to undergo surgery to fix the damage.
After Hill went down, trainers placed his leg in an air cast before he was carted off the field. He was then transported via ambulance to a local hospital.

During his comments to reporters after the game, Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel confirmed Hill would stay overnight in the hospital.
“I know he’s at the hospital. I know he’s staying overnight,” McDaniel, 41, said.. “I know it was a dislocation.”
McDaniel also praised Hill’s composure during the incident.
“He was probably in the best spirits of any player that I’ve ever had, it’s such a terrible experience when you go out and see guys,” McDaniel continued. “He immediately had wide eyes and was talking, ‘I’m good, just make sure the guys get this win.’”
Hill’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, rode alongside him in the ambulance on his trip to the hospital.
The severity of the injury shocked Hill’s teammates, including Dolphins running back De’Von Achane.
“He was smiling, still making jokes,” Achane recalled after the game. “I was like, ‘Bro, you just got hurt.’”
Dolphins quarterback, Tua Tagovailoa, offered prayers during his postgame remarks.
“Just want to thank [God] for this victory and keeping us safe, for the most part,” Tagovailoa said. He later added, “All glory belongs to God.”
Fellow Dolphins wide receiver Jaylen Waddle also reflected on Hill’s absence.
“It’s mixed emotions having one of our captains, leader, and a player that just means so much to the team. Prayers to him. It’s tough,” Waddle said after the game. “It’s just sad anytime you see someone go down. A guy of that stature. What he means to the team. What he means to the game of football. His legacy.”
Former teammate and Kansas City Chiefs quarterback, Patrick Mahomes, sent his support to Hill on social media.
“Prayers up man….. 🙏🏽🙏🏽,” Mahomes wrote via X on Monday night.

Former Dolphins offensive lineman Terron Armstead said he received a message from Hill after being taken to the hospital.
“I just got a FaceTime call from my brother @cheetah ‼️, “ Armstead, 34, shared via TK.“First thing he said ‘man I’m just happy we got that win’!! He’s in good spirits and said he was laughing through the pain, to avoid passing out!! Crazy! Praying for best news possible and speedy recovery!”
Before the injury, Hill had six catches for 67 yards, boosting his season totals to 21 receptions for 265 yards and one touchdown in four games.
Despite the blow, the Dolphins pulled out a 27–21 win over the Jets. They return to action on Sunday, October 5th against the Carolina Panthers.
