In a moment of darkness for America, I believe Graham Platner’s Senate campaign brings light and hope.
I was one of hundreds of people who turned out at a brewery in Ellsworth recently to hear Graham speak. An energetic crowd spilled into the street and onto the sidewalks, eager to hear his message.
Graham spoke authentically and powerfully about an economy that is rigged against working people in favor of billionaires and corporate interests. He took on the threats to our democracy and the authoritarian actions betraying the values of America.
Plenty of candidates can talk about the problems. What makes Graham’s campaign and message unique to me is that he puts we the people at the center of making an economy and democracy that work for working people. He talks about power and movement building, and centering organizing and community building around the change we seek. He gives a path to make a vision for a better future into reality.
Too many people feel left behind in our economy and left out in our politics. And rightly so. I believe Graham has the courage to call out what got us here, the solutions to fix what is broken, the lived experience that connects with people, and the energy to truly build a movement for change. At a time when national Democrats seem rudderless and ineffective, they should look to what Graham is building for inspiration and a way forward.
