Prince William has reportedly jetted off to Scotland for a quiet father-son weekend with King Charles III.

William, 43, traveled to Balmoral Castle on Friday, September 26, for an outing with his 76-year-old father, according to Sky News. The outlet further reported that Charles and son are set to have “quality time together” after a busy week of official engagements. (Charles is also the father of Prince Harry, who is currently estranged from the royal family.)

Charles visited the BAE Systems shipyard in Barrow-in-Furness, England, on Monday, September 22. One day later, William and wife Princess Kate Middleton were in Southport to speak with grieving families of a fatal 2024 attack during a local children’s dance class.

Last year was especially difficult for both William and his father. In early 2024, Charles and Kate, 43, confirmed their respective battles with undisclosed forms of cancer.

“I’d say 2024 was the hardest year I’ve ever had,” William said in a teaser clip for his upcoming appearance on Apple TV+’s The Reluctant Traveler With Eugene Levy. “You know, life is sent to test us as well, and being able to overcome that is what makes us who we are.”

William also gave the 78-year-old Schitt’s Creek alum a “personalized” tour of Windsor Castle with the prince’s dog Orla in tow.

“When you have three small children, sleep is an important part of my life,” William told Levy of how he and Kate spend their free time, referring to kids Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 6.

While the king is still undergoing treatment for cancer, Kate has been in remission since January.

Kate Middleton ‘Will Be Doing More Next Year,’ Prince William Reveals

“I wanted to take the opportunity to say thank you to The Royal Marsden for looking after me so well during the past year,” the Princess of Wales said in a statement at the time. “My heartfelt thanks goes to all those who have quietly walked alongside William and me as we have navigated everything. We couldn’t have asked for more. The care and advice we have received throughout my time as a patient has been exceptional.”

She continued, “It is a relief to now be in remission and I remain focussed on recovery. As anyone who has experienced a cancer diagnosis will know, it takes time to adjust to a new normal. I am however looking forward to a fulfilling year ahead. There is much to look forward to.”

Kate, who took a step back from royal duties while undergoing cancer treatment, returned to work this summer. Along the way, she’s been candid about how her health scare affected her and their family.

“You put on a sort of brave face, stoicism through treatment. Treatment’s done, then it’s like, ‘I can crack on, get back to normal,’ but actually, the phase afterwards is really, really difficult,” Kate said while visiting a hospital in Essex in July. “You’re not necessarily under the clinical team any longer, but you’re not able to function normally at home as you perhaps once used to. Someone to help talk you through that, show you and guide you through that sort of phase that comes after treatment, I think is really valuable.”
