ROCKLAND — A Rockland man was arrested this week, accused of threatening to shoot a teen.
Kevin Thompson, 75, of Old County Road, was charged with Class C domestic violence criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon, and Class C domestic violence terrorizing with a dangerous weapon.
He was arrested Sept. 24 by Rockland Police and taken to the Knox County Jail in Rockland where no bail was allowed until he made his initial court appearance. At his initial appearance Friday afternoon, Sept. 26 in the state court in Knox County, Judge John Martin set bail at $500 cash as requested by defense attorney for the day David Zirschky. Thompson will be required to not have contact with the victim or her sister and not to possess a firearm.
An affidavit filed in court by the Rockland Police Department stated that officers responded to a call about a gun threat from a relative of people at the residence in Rockland.
Thompson initially denied having a gun but then admitted he had the weapon and had warned a 15-year-old girl during a verbal argument that he would not kill her but might shoot her in the leg.
The 9mm Tara Aerospace handgun was seized by Police.
A witness, who was talking to the teen on FaceTime, said she saw Thompson waving the gun around and making the comments about how he might shoot the teen in the leg.
Zirschky said he was informed by Thompson’s family that Thompson received a dementia diagnosis a few months ago.
