9-1-1: Nashville is leaning into the chaos by having Chris O’Donnell reveal on the show that LeAnn Rimes‘ onscreen stripper son is his secret child.
The official trailer, which ABC released on Thursday, September 25, introduces Us to O’Donnell’s Captain Don Hart, who is a veteran firefighter and former rodeo rider. His team of emergency responders includes his son, Ryan Hart (Michael Provost).
But elsewhere in the city of Nashville is a stripper named Blue Bennings (Hunter McVey), who is only a firefighter while dressed up for his shift dancing at the local bar. The trio run into each other during an emergency where Blue jumped in to help.
“Who the hell is that?” Ryan asks, to which Don replies, “What are the odds. This is your brother.”

Blue is offered a job at the firehouse, but his mother, Dixie (Rimes), urges him to “start sinking your hooks into” his father’s family so he “could be set for life.” The Hart family also features matriarch Blythe (Jessica Capshaw), a.k.a Don’s wife, who is wary of Blue.
Don’s secret son ultimately finds his calling being a firefighter, but his dynamic with his family appears much more complicated.
“I just don’t feel like I can go through with this plan anymore,” Blue tells Dixie, who reminds him, “I’m your family. Remember that.”
The 9-1-1 spinoff, which is set to premiere October 9, is set in Nashville and follows the lives of emergency responders — including firefighters, paramedics and police officers — as they face life-threatening situations. Kimberly Williams-Paisley, Hailey Kilgore and Juani Feliz make up the rest of the cast.
9-1-1 premiered on Fox in 2018 starring Angela Bassett, Peter Krause, Aisha Hinds, Oliver Stark, Connie Britton and Kenneth Choi before Jennifer Love Hewitt and Ryan Guzman joined the show. Fox canceled the series in 2023, but ABC renewed it and is still airing the fan-favorite show.

Fox previously expanded the universe with 9-1-1: Lone Star, which followed Rob Lowe‘s character, Owen Strand, a New York City firefighter who relocated to Texas. Liv Tyler, Ronen Rubinstein, Rafael L. Silva, Sierra McClain, Jim Parrack, Natacha Karam, Brian Michael Smith, Julian Works and Gina Torres also starred on the spinoff.
9-1-1: Lone Star was renewed for its fifth and final season in 2023. Earlier this year, Stark fueled rumors that the casts of 9-1-1 and 9-1-1: Nashville might be filming together sooner rather than later when he shared an Instagram post in August, writing, “6 Nashville Miles for breakfast.”
The social media upload included a video of Stark running in Tennessee. He also added a smirking devil emoji.
9-1-1: Nashville premieres on ABC Thursday, October 8, at 9 p.m. ET before streaming the next day on Hulu.
