On Sept. 24, 2024, 13-year-old Stefanie Damron of New Sweden was reported missing to authorities.
A year after her disappearance, family and community members are still mourning and hoping to find any new information about the teen.

Stefanie Damron, 13, is reported missing after a day by her family. The teenager is described as standing 5 feet tall, weighing 130 pounds, and having green eyes and shoulder-length brown hair.
She was last seen wearing blue jeans, a long-sleeve blue shirt and black Harley Davidson hiking boots.

Damron turns 14.
Multiple state police units, including the state’s computer crimes unit, are actively working on the investigation. The FBI’s Child Abduction Rapid Deployment Team is also part of the search for the Aroostook County teen. The search has extended across the nation, as well as into Canada.
Police dogs are deployed to search the West Road area where Damron was last seen.
Oct. 26, 2024
Twenty-eight people walked for 10 ½ hours in the area near the home of Damron’s family. Most were local residents but a few traveled from southern Maine because they have Aroostook connections.
The Bangor Daily News reports on remarks that Damron’s family made about the girl potentially being targeted by a person she met online. Stefanie Damron’s father, Christopher Damron, said she could have used an old cellphone to connect to social media.

The FBI and Maine State Police offer a $15,000 reward for information leading to the safe return of Stefanie Damron and/or the arrest and prosecution of anyone involved in her disappearance.
A vigil is held for Stefanie Damron in her hometown of New Sweden, marking 90 days since she went missing.
Police renewed their physical search for Damron, with a crew of 57 personnel from the FBI, Maine State Police, Maine Warden Service and volunteers from search and rescue organizations. Officials said search conditions had improved, but there had not been a major break in the case.
Damron’s disappearance was also highlighted on “America’s Most Wanted: Missing Persons.”
