A Cornish man was arrested Monday after he allegedly made threats against the University of New England.
Blake Tibbetts, 24, has been charged with terrorizing, criminal use of explosives and criminal attempt to cause a catastrophe, according to Shannon Moss, a spokesperson for the Maine Department of Public Safety.
Tibbetts allegedly made his threats against the Biddeford university while at a restaurant in Cornish on Monday morning.
Once he was identified, troopers detained Tibbetts and brought him to the hospital for evaluation before taking him to the York County Jail in Alfred, where he was being held on $500,000 bail.
During the investigation, authorities found bomb-making material in Tibbetts’ Old Limington Road home, Moss said Tuesday morning.
Moss said there is no ongoing threat to the University of New England.
The investigation is ongoing, and Moss said no additional information is being released at this time.
Correction: An earlier version of this story stated a wrong age for Blake Tibbetts. He is 24.
