Kyle MacLachlan is taking on a new role — podcast host.

“You might know me as that guy from Twin Peaks, Sex and the City or the internet’s dad,” MacLachlan, 66, shared during Us Weekly’s exclusive first look at his new “What Are We Even Doing?” podcast trailer.

The podcast — which is set to release its first episode on Thursday, September 18 — will follow MacLachlan as he “attempts to understand the brilliant chaos of youth culture without looking like I’m trying too hard.”

Each week, MacLachlan will have a notable name on the show. His lineup includes Benito Skinner, Kaia Gerber, Grace Kuhlenschmidt, Dylan O’Brien, Geraldine Viswanathan and Julian Shapiro-Barnum.

“We talk about what they love, what keeps them going and now they’re navigating the high speed rollercoaster we call reality,” MacLachlan continued. “Let’s get weird together. In a good way.”

Why Kyle MacLachlan Turned Down Offer to Reprise Role on ‘And Just Like That’

Variety was first to announce on Monday, September 15, that MacLachlan was set to host the upcoming “What Are We Even Doing?” podcast. (The podcast news comes just after it was announced that MacLachlan’s Amazon Prime Video show Overcompensating was renewed for a second season.)

“I’ve always been pretty quiet about my creative process — it’s not exactly the kind of thing actors sit around swapping notes on between takes,” MacLachlan shared in a statement on Monday. “But I’ve gotten curious. So I thought, why not start talking with the next generation of actors, musicians, and creators to hear how they do it — and maybe finally figure out what ‘chopped’ means while I’m at it.”

Each episode will feature an interview with one of the Gen Z members listed above along with “a special game tailored to each guest” to end the episode.

MacLachlan said that he’s “thrilled” to collaborate with executive producers Full Picture, Elvis Duran Podcast Network and iHeartRadio to “keep up with Gen Z” by interviewing creators that embody that generation.

Kyle MacLachlan Is Haunted By Some ‘SATC’ Scenes — But He’s Down for ‘AJLT’

“Now we know why he can master any role as an amazing actor!” Elvis Duran stated on Monday. “Kyle MacLachlan is the perfect mix of authentic and unexpected — exactly what we love at the Podcast Network. ‘What Are We Even Doing?’ is going to be a wild, smart and totally fun ride.”

Full Picture Productions chief creative officer and executive producer Anne Walls Gordon noted that she’s “excited to share our weird and wacky show with the world.”

Thursday’s “What Are We Even Doing?” premiere episode will feature MacLachlan and Gerber’s conversation. The episode will drop on iHeartRadio, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube, or wherever you get your podcasts.
