A woman was killed Tuesday morning after a vehicle she was driving crashed on Route 3 in Searsmont and rolled down an embankment, according to police. No other people were in the vehicle.
The crash was reported at around 8:45 a.m. in the vicinity of 33 Belfast-Augusta Road, which is also Route 3, according to a member of the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office who was at the scene later in the morning. That’s between the intersections with Thompson Ridge and New England roads.
Police did not immediately identify the victim or share more about the cause of the crash.
Searsmont Fire Chief James Ames said the victim may have suffered a medical incident around the time of the crash.
Maine State Police’s crash reconstruction team was also investigating the site.
