BREWER – Brewer High School and St. Joseph’s Hospital are excited to announce a new partnership focused on providing hands-on career exploration for Brewer students interested in the healthcare field.
This collaboration allows 10 students to participate in an Extended Learning Opportunity where they attend St. Joseph’s Hospital two to three times per week. The program is designed to give them a deep understanding of nursing and the wide range of career fields available within a hospital setting.
The program was developed through a close collaboration between Brewer High School’s ELO Coordinator Kevin Napolillo and St. Joseph’s Hospital’s Director of Clinical Education and Professional Practice Erica Caron, MSN RN.
“This is an invaluable experience for our students,” said Napolillo. “They are not only learning about specific medical fields and job opportunities but are also gaining insight into the essential skills and professional standards required to succeed in these careers. It’s a powerful way to connect classroom learning with real-world application.”
Through this unique ELO, students are gaining direct exposure to the daily operations of a hospital and the diverse roles that keep a healthcare facility running. The partnership aims to inspire the next generation of healthcare professionals by providing them with the knowledge and foundational skills needed for a successful career pathway.
Brewer High School is dedicated to providing a comprehensive education that prepares students for success in college and careers. The school’s Extended Learning Opportunity program connects students with community partners to provide real-world, hands-on learning experiences.
