On Tuesday, Sept. 9, the host Presque Isle Wildcats boys and girls teams used the similar formula of strong defense and opportunistic offense to earn soccer victories over the Fort Kent Warriors.
In the opening boys game, Jackson Greaves one-touched a corner kick by Brandon Porter into the goal to get Presque Isle on the board in the first half. A little more than a minute into the second half, Camden O’Donnell scored off a cross from Trenton Mastro to put the Wildcats up 2-0. A stout Wildcat defense frustrated the Warriors all day, with Griffin Berry earning the shutout in goal. Presque Isle moves to 2-0 on the season, and Fort Kent falls to 1-2.

In the nightcap, the Warriors got on the board midway through the first half when a pass by Reese Doucette was deflected to teammate Maddie Martin, who buried the ball into the back of the net. Carrlyn Buck tied the game for the Wildcats a few minutes later, knocking in a loose ball that was sent into the box by Peyton Boinske.
With just over five minutes remaining in the first half, a shot by Madison Oakes was knocked down, and Boinske put the ball into the net. Less than a minute later, a Boinske shot on goal was redirected into the goal by Marion Young to give the Wildcats a 3-1 lead. Neither team scored in the second half.
