A Rockland man died early Friday morning after he collided with a box truck in Woolwich.
Alex Colson, 38, was driving a 2022 Toyota Tundra north on Route 1, between Montsweag Restaurant and the intersection with Mountain Road, about 4:22 a.m. when he crossed the centerline into the path of a 2003 Freightliner driven by 60-year-old Scott Rice of Waldoboro, according to the Sagadahoc County Sheriff’s Office.
Rice tried to avoid colliding with Colson but was unable to.
Colson suffered extensive injuries and died at the scene.
Rice was taken to Maine Medical Center in Portland, where he was treated for injuries not considered life-threatening.
The crash remains under investigation.
