Good Morning Britain host Susanna Reid came to the defense of Kate Middleton‘s blonde hair on the same day the Princess of Wales seemingly returned to her signature brunette color.

Reid, 54, cut through the noise with support on the Monday, September 8, episode of Lorraine and celebrated Kate’s light and bright ‘do, which she debuted in late August and maintained into the start of the month.

“The Princess of Wales still has very, very long, thick hair and I noticed a lot of the commentary is that maybe it’s time to go a little bit shorter,” Reid said. “But again, it’s her distinctive look and the change that she’s made is to go blonder.”

TV personality Lorraine Kelly also chimed in during the broadcast to push back against critics, declaring, “She looks absolutely beautiful. People have been saying has she got some hair pieces in? Like I’ve got … the ones you just clip in — so what?”

Reid agreed wholeheartedly and revealed she also tried the bronde look — a mix of blonde and chestnut tones — to compliment her own features. “You’d think it was because I saw the Princess of Wales and thought, ‘I like that look,’” the television presenter quipped.

“Actually it’s because I’ve started to go a bit lighter as I’ve grown a few years older,” she explained. “I find having lighter pieces in my hair is a bit softer on aging skin.”

Kate Middleton’s Bold Blonde Hair Makeover Is ‘Likely to Spark a Trend’

On Monday’s episode, Reid even recalled a conversation she had with Cher in 2023, when the music icon suggested she grow her hair out after cutting her tresses into a bob.

“After Cher told me I had to go long, I originally went to hair pieces,” Reid shared with viewers. “They give your hair the most amazing thick texture. I turned back time and went long!”

Eagle-eyed onlookers noticed on Monday that Kate, 43, appeared to be back to her darker hair color during a trip to Sunningdale to honor the memory of Queen Elizabeth II on the third anniversary of her death, leading some to believe she made the switch after facing backlash.

Does Kate Middleton Wear Hair Extensions? What Stylists Have Said

Princess Diana’s former hairstylist Sam McKnight was among those who championed Kate’s blonde hair this past week, slamming “evil” trolls and their negative remarks on September 4.

Former royal butler Grant Harrold also praised Kate’s “beautiful” hair change. “She’s been through a real s*** time. Why not enjoy? She’s not afraid of doing that,” Harrold exclusively told Us Weekly after Kate’s cancer battle. (The royal announced she is in remission in January.)

He added, “She’s trying to feel good, and she’s trying to make herself look beautiful.”
