Game recaps by Medomak Valley High School varsity assistant and junior varsity head coach Andrea Williamson.
Varsity
It was a warm, muggy, wet day for the Medomak Valley Girls soccer team away season opener. They started out slow in the first half, but they made up for it in the second half.
Winslow took the early lead 1 to 0 at the 31:35 minute mark in the first half. The goal was scored by Davanee Kimball unassisted. The first half ended with Winslow in front.
The second half was a much better story for Medomak.
Scarlett Flint scored at the 38:33 minute mark off a thru ball pass from Haylee Chandler where Flint dribbled in and scored tying the game 1 to 1.
About two minutes later Flint scored again off a corner from Chandler giving Medomak the lead 2 to 1.
Medomak defenses continued to battle and keep the ball in Winslow’s end, and Flint was able to complete her hat trick with her final goal with 9:14 remaining on the clock with an assist from Chander giving Medomak the win 3 to 1.
Medomak had 8 shots in the first half and 13 in the second and Winslow’s goalie Isabella Loubier had 6 saves in the first half, and 10 in the second half. She had an amazing game.
Winslow had 8 shots in the first half and 3 in the second.
Chloe Fox MVHS goal had 6 saves in the first half and 2 in the second.
MVHS had 6 total corners while Winslow had 5. MVHS had one direct kick while Winslow had 8.
Junior Varsity
It was an 8 vs. 8 match up, 30 minutes halves.
MVHS has no goalie so all the teammates are taking a turn. What great sports they all are.
Medomak started out strong and scored the first goal of the game at the 26:37 mark. Haddee Brown sprinted to get a long pass from Eva Vannoy, and was able to place the ball low and away, giving Medomak the lead. This was the lone goal the entire game, Medomak was able to keep this lead and win the game.
Medomak had four different girls in goal and all made a minimum of one save, way to go girls this is a hard position to play.
Winslow’s goalie Emma Duplessie had 5 saves.
It was a great way to start the season.
