For the second straight season, all five of the University of Maine’s five home football games will be televised on WVII ABC Channel 7 and WFVX Fox 22 Bangor.
The slate of home games this fall begins with the Sept. 13 contest against Stonehill.
“As a local broadcaster, I have great pride broadcasting the Maine home football games,” said Mike Palmer, the general manager at WVII/WFVX.
WVII/WFVX is in a partnership with Van Wagner, which oversees the UMaine athletic department’s sponsorships and multimedia rights.
The networks usually televised three of the home games each year but for the first time in their 12-year arrangement, they carried all five last fall.
The Stonehill matchup, which will have a 6 p.m. kickoff, is a non-conference game but the other four are all Coastal Athletic Association contests.
All of the home games this season will be on Saturdays.
UMaine will entertain North Carolina A & T at 3:30 p.m. Sept. 27; the Homecoming game against Elon at 1 p.m. Oct. 25; Stony Brook at 1 p.m. Nov. 1; and the University of Rhode Island at 1 p.m. Nov. 15.
ABC 7 will carry the Stonehill, Stony Brook and URI games, and Fox 22 will have the North Carolina A & T and Elon contests.
Stonehill, a member of the Northeast Conference, is coming off a 1-10 season and lost its opener to Sacred Heart 12-7. Sacred Heart will join the CAA next fall.
North Carolina A & T was 1-11 a year ago and 0-8 in the conference in its second season in the CAA. North Carolina A & T lost its opener to Tennessee State 24-21.
North Carolina A & T was picked last (14th) in the CAA Coaches’ preseason poll.
Elon, chosen eighth in the poll, is coming off a 6-6 season (5-3 in the CAA) and was beaten 42-0 by Football Bowl Subdivision team Duke 45-17 in its first game.
Elon beat UMaine 31-25 last season in North Carolina.
Stony Brook, chosen fourth in the poll, was 8-4 overall and 5-3 in the CAA with narrow late-season losses to New Hampshire (31-30) and Monmouth (55-47) preventing the Seawolves from earning a Football Championship Subdivision playoff spot.
FBS team San Diego State topped Stony Brook 42-0 last weekend.
Rhode Island was the preseason choice to win the CAA this season after winning a school-record 11 games a year ago. URI went 11-3 overall and 7-1 in the CAA and earned an FCS playoff berth.
The Rams were declared the CAA co-champions last season along with Richmond because their only loss was to a Delaware team that was transitioning to its move up to the FBS.
URI beat Central Connecticut State 21-17 in its first playoff game before losing to Mercer 17-10 in the next round.
URI began its 2025 season with a 31-20 CAA win over Campbell (N.C.) last Friday night.
URI beat Maine 24-14 last fall.
Jim Churchill and WVII/WFVX sports director Jack Webb will call the home game broadcasts.
