A third woman has died after a Sunday boat crash on Flagstaff Lake.

John Morris, 50, of Eustis was driving an 18-foot 2024 Sea-Doo Switch Pontoon boat on the upper reaches of Flagstaff Lake in Eustis about 1:30 p.m. when the boat’s bow began to go under the water, according to Mark Latti, a spokesperson for the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife.

Morris tried to raise the bow, but it continued to go under until the Sea-Doo flipped, throwing all seven passengers into the water about 180 feet from shore.

People on the shore and on the lake rushed to help the party and brought all seven people to shore, Latti said.

Three passengers — 53-year-old Farhana Masir of Selden, New York; 23-year-old Kiran Akbar of Lake Grove, New York; and 22-year-old Noor Nasir of Selden, New York — were unresponsive.

Farhana Nasir and Akbar died at the scene. Noor Nasir was airlifted to Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, where she died Tuesday night, Latti said Wednesday afternoon.

None of the boat’s passengers was wearing a lifejacket.

The crash remains under investigation, and Latti said Wednesday that no other new information was available.
