CBS’ soap opera Beyond the Gates is airing an entire week of repeat episodes before season 2.

The next new episode of the hit series is set to premiere Monday, September 8. Beyond the Gates is currently reairing episodes after Labor Day, but this isn’t the first time the show was on a brief hiatus. During the week of July 4, the show aired the first episodes of Beyond the Gates before returning to new content.

The soap recently filmed its 200th episode after several actors confirmed they were done filming season 1. Beyond the Gates has been renewed for a second season, which is expected to air in early 2026.

Beyond the Gates takes place in a posh gated community in one of the most affluent African American counties just outside of Washington, D.C. The Duprees are at the center of the show, living in the luxurious Fairmont Crest neighborhood.

Meet the Characters From CBS’ 1st Black Daytime Soap ‘Beyond the Gates’

“At the center of this community are the Duprees, a powerful and prestigious multigenerational family that is the very definition of Black royalty,” reads the official synopsis. “But behind these pristine walls and lush, manicured gardens are juicy secrets and scandals waiting to be uncovered. And those that live outside these gates are watching closely.”

Clifton Davis and Tamara Tunie star as the patriarch and matriarch of the family. The daytime drama also stars Daphnée Duplaix, Karla Mosley, Alex Alegria, Lauren Buglioli, Brandon Claybon, Timon Kyle Durrett, Sean Freeman, Ben Gavin and Marquita Goings. Jibre Hordges, Jen Jacob, Maurice Johnson, Keith D. Robinson, Trisha Mann-Grant, Mike Manning, RhonniRose Mantilla, Ambyr Michelle, Colby Muhammad and Arielle Prepetit make up the rest of the cast.

Soap Stars Who Left the Spotlight and What They Did Next

Beyond the Gates, which premiered in February, made history as the first Black soap opera in nearly 35 years. The show — a joint venture between CBS Studios and the NAACP — is the first daytime soap centered around a Black family since Generations, which ended in 1991 after a 13-month run. Beyond the Gates is also leaving another mark in the soap genre as the first new daytime show to premiere since NBC’s Passions in 1999.

“The Gates will be everything we love about daytime drama, from a new and fresh perspective,” president of the CBS Studios NAACP venture, Sheila Ducksworth, said in a March 2024 press release. “This series will salute an audience that has been traditionally underserved, with the potential to be a groundbreaking moment for broadcast television. With multidimensional characters, juicy story lines and Black culture front and center, The Gates will have impactful representation, one of the key touchstones of the venture.”

Beyond the Gates returns on Monday, September 8, at 2 p.m. ET. on CBS.
