The truth of the matter is Katie Ginella’s experience with the lie detector test wasn’t a pleasant one.

“I think after the Persian New Year party, there is the biggest shift in the whole season. I was gutted,” Katie, 41, exclusively shared with Us Weekly before the Thursday, August 28, episode of The Real Housewives of Orange County. “I was saying to my husband last night, I was like, ‘Thank you for letting me rot in bed for a few weeks.’ I was just so emotional about leaving.”

On Thursday’s episode of the hit Bravo reality show, Emily Simpson invited the cast over for what was originally described as a fun party.

In a surprise turn of events, however, the group was asked to participate in a lie detector test where they answered burning questions from their costars about the season.

After Katie failed the test and was confronted with her inconsistencies, Emily, 49, asked her to leave the party.

“No one is going to believe me but I can lay my head at night knowing I told the truth,” Katie shared during the episode. “This might be the last time anyone sees me with this group of women.”

In her latest interview with Us, Katie was asked what she thinks is the biggest misconception about her within the cast.

“That I’m a plotter and a planner and I’m just spreading a web of lies with everyone,” she replied. “I don’t think I’m capable of that.”

While viewers will have to keep watching to see how Katie bounces back with the group that includes Gretchen Rossi, Shannon Beador, Tamra Judge, Heather Dubrow, Jennifer Pedranti and Gina Kirschenheiter, she’s grateful to have the support of her husband, Matt Ginella, and her kids.

“That’s the one thing that’s constant is my family,” she said. “The kids are great.”

Before the episode aired, Emily explained to Us why a lie detector test was needed for her group of girlfriends.

“I would say that the lie detector test actually was necessary because every conversation was just ‘Yes, you did. No, I didn’t. Yes, you did. No, I didn’t,’” Emily said at iHeartRadio and Vrbo’s Pickleball Tournament in Lake Tahoe, California, this past July. “I think the lie detector test is supposed to just finally have some conclusions on things. I think there is in a lot of people’s minds, and I think it affects the rest of the season.”

The Real Housewives of Orange County airs on Bravo Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET. Stream old episodes anytime on Peacock.
