3 New Hulu Movies With at Least 90 Percent on Rotten Tomatoes (August 2025)

Let’s be honest — most new movies that are added each month on streaming services like Netflix and HBO Max are junk.

The few that are great tend to be older, like The Godfather and Jurassic Park, and are generally widely recognized as classics.

That’s true with Hulu this August. The streamer has added a slew of films that have at least 90 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, and Watch With Us has selected three of them for you to tune into this month.

John Wick: Chapter 4 and Sisu are intense action movies with revenge-obsessed protagonists, while Bob Trevino Likes It is a quiet, low-key dramedy that deserves a more appreciative audience.

‘John Wick: Chapter 4’ (2023)

Rotten Tomatoes score: 95 percent

The John Wick series is beloved by fans, but it’s a mild surprise to discover that critics dig it as well. The last film in the series, John Wick: Chapter 4, was the most critically acclaimed installment, and it’s not hard to understand why. With an epic narrative, more than a few jaw dropping stunts and a climax that sees Wick face his toughest test yet, Chapter 4 gave everyone what they wanted and more.

As the movie opens, John Wick (Keanu Reeves) is on the run after angering the High Table by killing the Elder (George Georgiou). Aided by the Bowery King (Laurence Fishburne), Wick travels to Osaka, Berlin and eventually Paris to bring down the evil terrorist organization. To do so, he’ll have to eliminate a few dozen assassins and neutralize the Marquis Vincent Bisset de Gramont (Bill Skarsgård). Wick’s been through tough situations before, but he may have to fight a battle even he can’t win.

‘Bob Trevino Likes It’ (2024)

Rotten Tomatoes score: 95 percent

Quiet, intimate character dramas were a common occurrence in the ‘90s, but they are pretty rare in 2024. That’s probably why critics responded so enthusiastically to Bob Trevino Likes It, a delicate chamber piece that largely focuses on two characters: the titular Bob (John Leguizamo) and Lily Trevino (Euphoria’s Barbie Ferreira).

Even though they share the same last name, they aren’t related; Lily’s father, Robert Trevino (French Stewart), is a deadbeat who ignores her, which causes her to reach out online to a stranger who has the same last name as her dad. While Bob is reticent at first, he gradually warms up to Lily and begins to teach her all the things her real dad didn’t, like how to fix a broken toilet. In Bob, Lily finds the father figure she’s always been looking for, while Bob discovers life after a past tragedy.

Unassuming and largely realistic, Bob Trevino Likes It is the rare modern movie that lets its characters simply talk to each other. That sounds simple, but the movie is anything but, as it explores both of its characters’ complex inner lives. Leguizamo and Ferriera are terrific as two lonely souls who become a little less lonely when they spend more time with each other.

‘Sisu’ (2022)

Rotten Tomatoes score: 94 percent

Everyone hates Nazis, right? Well, so does Aatami Korpi (Jorma Tommila); known as a one-man death squad at the height of World War II, he is the German army’s worst enemy. When Bruno Helldorf (Aksel Hennie) and a squad of SS soldiers discover Aatami is travelling with some valuable gold, they decide to hunt him down to steal it. That’s a big mistake, as Aatami doesn’t like being hunted by Nazis and soon shows them all why he earned his reputation as a ruthless killer nicknamed ‘the Immortal.”

What’s New on Hulu in August 2025: ‘Alien: Earth,’ ‘The Monkey,’ ‘King of the Hill’ and More

Sisu is a simple and brutal revenge tale not unlike Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill movies or the original John Wick. Aatami is mostly silent throughout the movie, preferring to show his fighting skills rather than brag about them. The movie’s violence is over the top, but it’s with a purpose — to show the brutality of a war that’s largely being fought by others elsewhere. At a trim 91 minutes, Sisu is long enough to provide a memorable experience without overstaying its welcome.
