SOUTH PORTLAND —- Maine Warrior Gym, Maine’s only dedicated Ninja Warrior and Parkour training facility, is proud to announce its 10-year anniversary celebration on Thursday, Sept. 5. The milestone will be marked with a free community party at the gym, featuring obstacle course challenges, games, prizes, giveaways and a celebration of a decade of growth, resilience and impact.
Founded in 2015 by Tim Johnson, a former product development engineer, Maine Warrior Gym was born out of Johnson’s passion for martial arts, the drive to do something weird and different, and provide an amazing story for his family.
After the birth of his twin sons, Johnson left his engineering career with the vision of creating a space where his boys — and countless others — could grow stronger, face challenges head-on, and learn to overcome obstacles that would help them in all facets of life.
In the past decade, the gym has endured challenges that would have closed many small businesses — including the COVID-19 pandemic and even a fire — but Maine Warrior Gym has come out stronger each time. Today, it stands as a one-of-a-kind training facility in Maine, providing a safe, supportive and empowering environment where hundreds of children, teens and adults have discovered strength, resilience, and community and many have gone on to compete with the competitive team at the WORLD level!
“When we opened the doors 10 years ago, my dream was to give my kids — and our community — a place to learn what it really means to be STRONG,” said Johnson. “Strength isn’t just about muscles. It’s about perseverance, confidence, and the courage to overcome setbacks. Seeing and hearing from kids and families who carry out those lessons has been the greatest reward.”
The 10-year anniversary party on Sept. 5 is open to the public and will feature:
Free entry for all
Obstacle challenges and mini competitions
Prizes, raffles and giveaways
Music, games, and community fun
Maine Warrior Gym has become more than a training facility — it’s a community hub where families connect, kids build confidence and members of all ages discover what they’re capable of. The 10-year milestone is a celebration not just of the gym’s endurance, but of the thousands of personal victories achieved by its members.
